Shipping, Delivery & Pickup
Where do you ship?
We currently ship free within the state of Michigan.
Where do you deliver?
We currently deliver to Jackson County and Washtenaw County.
How does pickup work?
Pickup is always free and available by appointment from our roastery in Jackson. We’ll coordinate a pickup time when you place your order.
How long does delivery take?
We roast to order, meaning your coffee is roasted within 48 hours of your order. Delivery is typically scheduled within 2-4 days of roasting to ensure maximum freshness.
Coffee & Roasting
What does “roasted to order” mean?
We don’t roast coffee until you’ve placed an order. This ensures you receive the freshest possible coffee—roasted specifically for you, not sitting on a shelf.
How fresh is the coffee when I receive it?
Very fresh. Your coffee is roasted within 48 hours of your order and delivered within days.
Most commercial roasters roast in large batches weeks in advance. Ours is roasted for you.
What roast level do you use?
We roast to the level that best highlights each coffee’s characteristics. See each of our offerings for more information.
Why do you only offer Guatemalan coffee?
Guatemala is what we know. We choose depth over breadth. We draw on our deep knowledge of the country’s regions, culture, and diverse coffee profiles and true lived experience to transport our customers on a true journey from farm to cup.
Guatemala’s high elevations, volcanic soils, and diverse microclimates produce incredible variety within a single origin.
What does “farm gate” mean?
Farm gate sourcing means we purchase coffee directly from the farm or through transparent, traceable channels—not through anonymous commodity markets. It ensures we know exactly where the coffee comes from and that producers are fairly compensated.
Are your coffees organic?
Our coffees are not certified organic, but they are sourced from farms using sustainable practices. Many small Guatemalan farms operate without synthetic inputs but don’t pursue certification due to cost. We prioritize transparent sourcing and direct relationships over certifications.
Storage & Brewing
How should I store my coffee?
Store your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Avoid the refrigerator or freezer, as moisture and temperature fluctuations can degrade quality.
How long will my coffee stay fresh?
Coffee is best consumed within 2-4 weeks of the roast date for peak flavor. It will still be enjoyable beyond that, but the more delicate aromatics will fade over time.
What’s the roast date on the bag?
Every bag is labeled with the roast date. Because we roast to order, your coffee is never more than a few days old when it arrives.
What brewing methods do you recommend?
If depends on the coffee, but we include brewing suggestions on our label for each coffee. Some of our favorites are french press or a V60 pour over.
Sourcing & Ethics
How do you source your coffee?
We source exclusively through farm-gate or Fair Trade channels. This means we know the origin of every lot, avoid exploitative commodity markets, and prioritize producer compensation and transparency.
Will you offer other origins in the future?
No. We are committed to Guatemala as our sole origin. This focus allows us to build deeper relationships, maintain consistency, and honor the country’s coffee heritage without dilution. We prefer to expand to other offerings that show the cultural richness of Guatemala, versus expanding to offer other coffees.
About Altiplano Reserve
Why “Altiplano Reserve”?
Altiplano refers to the high plateaus and volcanic highlands of Guatemala where much of the country’s best coffee is grown. “Reserve” reflects our commitment to small-lot, carefully
selected microlots. The name honors place.
Are you a cafe?
No. We are a small-batch roaster operating on a roast-to-order model. We don’t have a physical cafe, but we do offer shipping, local delivery, and pickup.
You can also find us at local markets or join one of our tasting events!
